Terry Stotts interested in Blazers return as coaching search expands

Terry Stotts wants back in Portland. And he’s not being shy about it.

Stotts recently told longtime Oregon writer Dwight Jaynes that he’d welcome another run with the Trail Blazers, even confirming that his agent has reached out to the team.

“I would love to come back to the Blazers and Portland,” Stotts said.

Stotts spent nearly a decade with the franchise and remains one of the most successful coaches in team history. He’s been with the Warriors as a top assistant the past two seasons, staying close to the game while waiting for the right opportunity.

This might be it.

Portland is casting a wide net in its coaching search. According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, Timberwolves assistant Micah Nori is among the names drawing interest as well.

Still, Stotts stands out.

Familiarity. Experience. A known presence in the building.

Now it’s just a matter of whether the feeling is mutual.
