Wizards keeping entire top tier in play at No. 1 overall

AJ Dybantsa may be the current favorite to go No. 1 overall. That doesn’t mean the Wizards have fully locked anything in yet.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Woo, rival teams still don’t view Dybantsa as a guaranteed choice atop the 2026 NBA Draft, even though he landed at No. 1 in Woo’s latest mock draft.

The bigger takeaway? There’s a consensus top tier, but not a consensus top player.

Woo says league executives largely view Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, Cameron Boozer and Caleb Wilson as the clear top four prospects in the class.

After Dybantsa, Woo projected Peterson to Utah at No. 2, Boozer to Memphis at No. 3 and Wilson to Chicago at No. 4.

Peterson apparently made a strong impression during combine interviews despite some lingering medical questions tied to cramping issues during his freshman season at Kansas.

Meanwhile, there was also chatter in Chicago about the Jazz potentially exploring a move to No. 1 overall. At least for now, though, most around the league believe Utah is more likely to stay put and simply take the best player available.
