NBA trade proposal sends Cavs’ Evan Mobley, Sam Merrill to Bucks for Giannis

The Cavaliers have repeatedly indicated they view Evan Mobley as a cornerstone piece.

That hasn’t stopped outsiders from imagining what it might take to land Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

In a recently proposed trade scenario, Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus suggested Cleveland could acquire Antetokounmpo by sending Mobley and guard Sam Merrill to Milwaukee.

Pincus argued the Cavs could offer Antetokounmpo an opportunity to join a proven contender in the Eastern Conference.

“The Cavaliers could be Antetokounmpo’s best opportunity to join a contending team,” Pincus wrote, via Roundtable’s Ashish Mathur.

As a reminder, the proposal is purely hypothetical and does not reflect any discussions between the teams.

Mobley, 25, is coming off another strong season and remains one of the league’s premier young big men. The former Defensive Player of the Year has consistently been described by the Cavs as a foundational player.

Meanwhile, Antetokounmpo continues to be the subject of widespread trade speculation as questions surround Milwaukee’s future.

The two-time MVP remains one of the NBA’s most dominant players and would immediately alter the championship outlook of virtually any team that acquired him.

Whether Cleveland would ever seriously consider moving Mobley is another matter entirely.

Still, as the offseason approaches, these fun-ish trade proposals involving Antetokounmpo are likely to continue generating plenty of debate among fans and analysts alike.
