Celtics
The Celtics continue to be mentioned as a potential landing spot for Giannis Antetokounmpo, though acquiring the Bucks superstar likely wouldn’t come cheap.
According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, Boston would be comfortable discussing a deal centered on Jaylen Brown in a trade for Antetokounmpo. However, there is a strong belief around the league that Brown alone wouldn’t satisfy Milwaukee’s asking price.
The Celtics could include as many as three future first-round picks in a package, but it’s unclear how far they would be willing to go in pursuit of the two-time MVP.
Should Boston keep its star tandem of Brown and Jayson Tatum intact, league sources told Amick that the Celtics are among the teams with interest in Pelicans wing Trey Murphy III.
Trail Blazers
While Portland has frequently been linked to Antetokounmpo in recent months, the Trail Blazers don’t appear to be pushing especially hard at the moment.
Per Amick, one factor is uncertainty over whether Giannis would commit long-term. Antetokounmpo could become a free agent in 2027, making any massive trade package a significant gamble.
However, the Blazers reportedly would have “serious” interest in Brown if the Celtics make him available.
Unlike Antetokounmpo, Brown remains under contract for three more seasons, making him a potentially more attractive long-term target for Portland.
Grizzlies
The Ja Morant trade chatter has quieted lately, but Memphis reportedly believes that could change depending on how the Giannis situation unfolds.
According to Amick, the Grizzlies are hopeful that Morant emerges as a fallback option for teams that miss out on Antetokounmpo.
The Heat continue to be viewed as one of the teams with genuine interest in Morant. If Miami fails to land Giannis, Memphis could attempt to capitalize by pursuing some of the same assets that might have been included in a potential Bucks trade package.
