Celtics
The Celtics may not be actively shopping Derrick White, but that hasn’t stopped rival teams from checking in.
According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, there is a belief around the league that Boston has at least been willing to listen to inquiries involving the veteran guard, even if a trade remains unlikely.
Fischer noted that sources would be surprised if White is ultimately moved.
Still, Boston continues to search for frontcourt help and reportedly explored the possibility of acquiring Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert prior to the trade deadline.
The idea remains intriguing on paper.
The Timberwolves have been linked to backcourt upgrades alongside Anthony Edwards, while the Celtics are known to be seeking help in the frontcourt. Sam Amick of The Athletic recently reported that Minnesota has “strong” interest in White.
To be clear, Fischer indicated neither White nor Gobert appears to be actively available, but a framework involving the two veterans is one league observers continue to watch.
Pistons
Isaiah Stewart may be one of the more popular names on the trade market this offseason.
After Amick reported that Detroit has made Stewart available in trade discussions, Fischer added that the veteran big man is “bracing” for the possibility of being moved, according to league sources.
The Pistons are reportedly pursuing a significant roster upgrade focused on improving shooting and playmaking, with Stewart expected to be involved in those conversations.
Fischer reported that the Bucks, Celtics, Spurs and Heat are among the teams with interest in the 25-year-old.
Meanwhile, speculation continues to swirl around a potential Giannis Antetokounmpo blockbuster involving Milwaukee and Miami. Marc Stein reported that Tyler Herro could be rerouted to Detroit in a larger multi-team deal if such a trade materializes.
Despite Stewart’s uncertain future, Fischer reported that the Pistons remain determined to re-sign free-agent forward Tobias Harris following his strong postseason performance.
Timberwolves
While Rudy Gobert‘s name has surfaced in trade speculation, Fischer reported that Minnesota has been more willing to discuss Julius Randle in conversations with rival teams.
According to people familiar with the situation, Jaden McDaniels and Naz Reid continue to be viewed as off-limits.
That leaves Randle as one of the Timberwolves’ more intriguing trade chips as the front office explores ways to reshape the roster around Edwards.
Fischer also pointed to Grizzlies guard Ja Morant as a player who remains widely available, raising the possibility of Minnesota pursuing a significant move if the right opportunity presents itself.
