NBA Rumors: Raptors, Myles Turner, Clippers, No. 5 pick, Hornets

Raptors

The Giannis Antetokounmpo situation could end up impacting more than just the Bucks, Heat and Celtics.

According to Michael Grange of Sportsnet, the Raptors could have interest in Bucks center Myles Turner if Milwaukee decides to continue reshaping its roster following a potential Giannis trade.

That’s a big “if.” But if the Bucks move into a broader rebuild, Turner would almost certainly attract attention around the league.

Toronto makes some sense.

While Jakob Poeltl remains a solid starting center, Turner offers something different as a floor-spacing big man who can also protect the rim. His ability to stretch defenses could create more room for scorers such as Scottie Barnes and Brandon Ingram.

Turner is entering the second season of the four-year deal he signed with Milwaukee last summer.

Granted, this feels more like something to file away than an imminent move. But if the Bucks start making additional changes, Toronto could be one team worth watching.

Clippers

The Clippers may hold one of the most interesting picks in this year’s draft.

With the No. 5 selection, Los Angeles sits right behind what many view as the consensus top tier of prospects.

According to Janis Carr of the Orange County Register, there remains plenty of uncertainty about which direction the Clippers will go.

That’s because they have options.

The Clippers could stay put and make the pick. They could move back. Or they could explore using the selection as part of a larger trade if the right opportunity presents itself.

Either way, Los Angeles appears to be one of the teams that could help shape how the rest of the lottery unfolds.

Hornets

The Hornets continue to be linked to frontcourt help.

According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, there is an expectation around the league that Charlotte could target a big man with either the 14th or 18th pick.

That doesn’t mean the Hornets are locked into a center.

Fischer reported that Iowa’s Bennett Stirtz and Baylor’s Cameron Carr have both been connected to Charlotte by scouts and agents around the league.

Still, the prevailing belief appears to be that the Hornets would like to add size somewhere in the draft.

We’ll find out soon enough. Draft night is almost here.
