Six-team NBA blockbuster becomes official

The NBA’s wild offseason just added another official chapter.

The long-rumored six-team trade involving the Mavericks, Pistons, Grizzlies, Clippers, Bucks and Wizards has finally crossed the finish line, with all six teams announcing the deal Wednesday.

There were so many moving parts that it almost felt like half the league was involved.

The biggest names changing teams include Santi Aldama heading to Dallas, Isaiah Stewart landing with the Grizzlies, John Collins joining the Pistons in a sign-and-trade, Khris Middleton returning to the Wizards and Caris LeVert being dealt to the Bucks.

The Mavericks also officially acquired the draft rights to Tarik Biberovic, who is expected to sign with Dallas after spending the past several seasons overseas.

Most of these moves had already been reported over the past couple of weeks. Wednesday simply made everything official.

In the end, Dallas added frontcourt depth with Aldama and another intriguing young piece in Biberovic. Detroit reshaped its frontcourt with Collins while adding veteran wings Taurean Prince and Gary Harris. Memphis turned Aldama into Stewart, picked up D’Angelo Russell and collected additional draft assets. Milwaukee took on LeVert’s expiring contract while adding future second-round picks.

Washington reunited with Middleton on a three-year contract, then shipped Russell to Memphis as part of the massive deal. The Clippers, meanwhile, completed the Collins sign-and-trade and came away with a sizable trade exception that could still prove useful later this offseason.

According to Hoops Rumors’ Luke Adams, all six teams involved are now hard-capped at the NBA’s first tax apron for the 2026-27 season. None of the clubs, however, are currently projected to be in danger of exceeding that threshold.
