Now that DeMar DeRozan has officially cleared waivers, the speculation has begun.
One of the more interesting possibilities comes from Matt George of Sactown Sports 1140, who said the Cavaliers and Heat are the two teams generating the most chatter as potential landing spots for the veteran scorer.

“The two teams that we seem to hear the most chatter about in terms of potential landing destinations for DeMar DeRozan are the Miami Heat … and the Cleveland Cavaliers,” George said.
It’s easy enough to understand the thinking.
The Cavs are trying to build on last season’s run to the Eastern Conference finals and could still look to add another proven veteran to the rotation. Miami, meanwhile, just landed Giannis Antetokounmpo and is expected to continue looking for experienced help as it reshapes its roster around its new superstar.
Whether Cleveland actually has interest remains to be seen.
The Cavs have spent much of the offseason waiting on LeBron James‘ free-agency decision, with other potential moves seemingly tied to whatever happens there. DeRozan, meanwhile, could emerge as an option for several contenders that miss out on James.
The six-time All-Star averaged 18.4 points with Sacramento last season after putting up 22.2 the year before. He’ll turn 37 in August but remains one of the league’s most accomplished mid-range scorers and late-game shot creators.
