NBA Notes: Grizzlies, Cameron Boozer, Lakers, Ziaire Williams, Spurs

Grizzlies

The Grizzlies have officially signed No. 3 overall pick Cameron Boozer to his rookie contract.

Memphis announced the move Monday, locking up one of the most accomplished players from the 2026 draft class after a dominant freshman season at Duke.

Boozer averaged 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists while earning AP National Player of the Year honors before declaring for the draft.

He’s also off to an impressive start in Summer League, averaging 18.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.0 assists through three games while shooting better than 62 percent from the field.

Boozer is expected to earn about $53.8 million over the first four years of his rookie-scale contract.

Lakers

The Lakers continue adding depth.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, free agent wing Ziaire Williams has agreed to a one-year contract after spending the past two seasons with the Nets.

Williams averaged 10.2 points and 2.4 rebounds last season while continuing to develop into a versatile defender.

The move also doesn’t appear to change Los Angeles’ pursuit of Warriors restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga, who remains one of the Lakers’ top offseason targets.

Meanwhile, Austin Reaves gave the Lakers a little extra financial flexibility.

According to The Athletic’s Jovan Buha and ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, Reaves’ new four-year deal is worth $180 million rather than the projected $185 million maximum, potentially creating additional cap flexibility down the road.

Spurs

Jordan McLaughlin is staying in San Antonio.

The Spurs officially re-signed the veteran point guard to a one-year minimum contract after he spent parts of the past two seasons with the organization.

McLaughlin averaged 2.0 points and 0.9 assists in 44 games last season, but the Spurs continue to value his steady play, experience and ability to take care of the basketball.

The 30-year-old will enter his eighth NBA season as San Antonio’s veteran reserve point guard.
