Bulls
The Bulls came away from Summer League believing they may have found an important building block.
Mike McGraw of the Daily Herald wrote that No. 4 overall pick Caleb Wilson was the clear standout in Las Vegas after averaging 23.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.5 blocks while shooting 50 percent from the field.
Wilson also surprised evaluators by knocking down 42 percent of his three-point attempts.
McGraw suggested Wilson and Matas Buzelis could eventually give Chicago an exciting young foundation as the franchise continues its rebuild, while noting the Bulls shouldn’t overreact to the struggles of several other young players during Summer League.
Grizzlies
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope may not be with the Grizzlies for much longer.
Reports have indicated Memphis could approach the veteran guard about a contract buyout as the team looks to trim its roster before the start of the season.
Should Caldwell-Pope become a free agent, he would immediately emerge as an intriguing option for contenders. Speculation has already linked the Klutch Sports client to the possibility of joining whichever team ultimately signs LeBron James.
The 32-year-old has won NBA championships with both the Lakers and Nuggets.
Nuggets
The Nuggets may not be finished adding to their frontcourt.
NBA insider Jake Fischer reported Denver continues searching for another big man after parting ways with Jonas Valanciunas, who has since signed with Zalgiris Kaunas in Lithuania.
Denver recently added Marvin Bagley III, but Fischer indicated the Nuggets would still like more depth behind three-time MVP Nikola Jokic.
