Former NBA sharpshooter and longtime analyst Eddie Johnson isn’t buying the idea that LeBron James is still trying to figure out where he’ll play next season.
Johnson believes the decision has already been made — and suggested the delay in announcing it could actually benefit James’ next team.
“I think the team already knows,” Johnson said during his SiriusXM NBA Radio show with Mark Termine.

Johnson’s theory is that keeping the decision quiet allows James’ eventual destination to continue operating without other contenders knowing exactly what they’re up against.
In other words, perhaps this isn’t indecision at all. Perhaps it’s strategy.
There’s no evidence yet that Johnson’s theory is correct, of course. In fact, Joe Vardon of The Athletic quoted a source close to James who said, “I’m not even sure LeBron knows” where he’ll sign.
But that’s pretty much been LeBron free agency in a nutshell.
James has now been on the market for nearly a month, with the Cavaliers, Heat, 76ers and others linked to him at various points. The Warriors have also pursued James, though ESPN’s Anthony Slater reported they’re pessimistic about their chances.
Meanwhile, everyone continues searching for clues. Johnson thinks there may not be anything left to figure out. Perhaps LeBron has known all along.
