Draymond Green isn’t going anywhere. Green has agreed to a one-year, $27.7 million contract to remain with the Warriors, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul told ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The deal is identical to the player option Green declined earlier this offseason, a move that gave Golden State additional flexibility as it pursued LeBron James in free agency.
The Warriors ultimately came up short in those efforts, with James choosing the 76ers over a group of finalists that also included Golden State.
Now, the Warriors are bringing back one of the cornerstones of their dynasty.
Green, 36, has spent his entire NBA career with Golden State, earning four championships, four All-Star selections and the 2017 Defensive Player of the Year award. He remains one of the team’s emotional leaders alongside Stephen Curry.
With Green now back under contract, attention will turn to whether the Warriors make any additional moves to strengthen a roster that missed out on James and is coming off a 37-win season.
