Warriors

The Warriors missed on several major offseason swings, but that doesn’t mean Stephen Curry is preparing to leave.

Nick Friedell of The Athletic wrote that Curry has never publicly pressured Golden State to make roster changes and has consistently expressed a desire to remain with the only NBA franchise he has known.

A source told Friedell that the front office has kept Curry informed of its plans throughout the process. Friedell added that he does not expect the 38-year-old guard’s position to change, despite speculation that Golden State’s uncertain direction could eventually lead to a trade request.

The Warriors did try to make a splash. They pursued LeBron James and also explored other major additions, but none materialized.

General manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. indicated in May that the offseason could be relatively quiet, as Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area noted.

“This isn’t about the roster, frankly,” Dunleavy said. “This year, I don’t think we came up short because of the talent on the roster. It was injuries and things we can control.”

Golden State brought back Draymond Green, Al Horford, Kristaps Porzingis, De’Anthony Melton, Gary Payton II and Charles Bassey. Its only new player on a standard contract is No. 11 overall pick Yaxel Lendeborg.

So yes, the Warriors mostly ran it back after finishing 37-45. But at least Curry appears willing to run with them.

Hornets

Naz Reid went from undrafted prospect to one of the Timberwolves’ most popular players. Now he intends to bring the lessons from that journey to Charlotte.

Reid told Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer that he plans to embrace a leadership role after being sent to the Hornets in the LaMelo Ball trade.

“I think just being able to put my head down, going to work, and obviously leading by example, not just by words,” Reid said. “Can’t ask someone to do one thing if you’re not doing your responsibility.”

Reid spent seven seasons with Minnesota after beginning his career on a two-way contract in 2019. He won Sixth Man of the Year in 2024 and helped the Timberwolves reach consecutive Western Conference finals before advancing to the second round last season.

He is expected to move into the starting lineup in Charlotte, likely replacing Miles Bridges after Bridges was traded to the Suns.

Reid said the trade initially came as “a little shocking.” He had just boarded a plane for the Bahamas when he received the news, so he continued with his vacation and dealt with his new basketball reality afterward.

He has since begun building relationships with Coby White, Brandon Miller, Kon Knueppel and his other new teammates.

Reid is still ramping up from an injury and has not fully participated in workouts. But he likes what he has seen from the Hornets so far.

Jazz

Terrell Brown Jr. is getting another NBA opportunity.

Brown has agreed to sign with the Jazz, his agent, Daniel Hazan, told NBA insider Chris Haynes. Rory Maher of Hoops Rumors relayed that the agreement is likely a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 contract.

That would allow Brown to earn a bonus if Utah waives him before the season and he spends at least 60 days with its G League affiliate, the Salt Lake City Stars.

Brown, 28, went undrafted out of Washington in 2022 and has spent the past four seasons in the G League.

He averaged 11.9 points, 6.4 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 50 games for the Greensboro Swarm last season. Brown struggled with his shooting, connecting on 40.4 percent from the field and 32.5 percent from beyond the arc, but helped Greensboro win the G League championship.

Brown previously signed Exhibit 10 contracts with the Hornets in 2023 and 2025.

The Jazz already have 14 players on guaranteed standard contracts, Mo Bamba on a partially guaranteed deal and all three two-way slots filled. That makes Brown a long shot to earn a regular-season roster spot.
