Keshad Johnson is staying with the Heat. This time, it’s on a two-way contract.
Johnson has agreed to the deal with Miami, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. He has spent his first two NBA seasons with the organization and will now return for a third. So the Heat clearly like having him around.
Johnson, 25, appeared in 32 games for Miami last season, averaging 4.3 points and 1.9 rebounds in 8.8 minutes. He originally joined the Heat on a two-way deal after going undrafted out of Arizona in 2024, eventually earning a standard contract during his rookie season.
Of course, Johnson may be best known for something that had nothing to do with a regular-season game.
He won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest last season, becoming one of the more unlikely winners in recent memory and adding a little hardware to his résumé.
The move comes on the same day Miami agreed to a one-year deal with veteran center Nick Richards. The Heat recently added Klay Thompson as well, so they’ve been fairly busy putting the final pieces of the roster together.
Johnson will again be eligible to split time between Miami and the G League’s Sioux Falls Skyforce.
