Stephen Jackson says LeBron James no longer belongs in Jordan, Kobe conversation

Stephen Jackson apparently wasn’t impressed with LeBron James’ decision to join the 76ers.

In fact, Jackson thinks it should change the way James is discussed historically.

During a segment on his All the Smoke podcast, the former NBA forward questioned James’ decision to join a Philadelphia team that was already viewed as a championship contender.

“All the talk you hear about the GOATs and pairing him to Jordan and Kobe, for me, Cleveland the only thing that made sense for me to keep him in that conversation,” Jackson said.

In other words, Jackson would’ve respected a return to the Cavaliers considerably more.

Instead, James joined a loaded Sixers roster featuring Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Jaylen Brown and VJ Edgecombe.

“Going to a team that’s already championship ready, that’s not really what I would look at [as] the best player in the league challenging himself,” Jackson said. “I don’t think that was a best-player-in-the-league move.”

James, of course, isn’t exactly chasing approval at this stage of his career. He’s chasing another championship.

Philadelphia gives him a pretty good shot at one.

Jackson just doesn’t believe joining the Sixers should help James’ case in the Michael Jordan-Kobe Bryant conversation.

Something tells us people will have opinions about that.
