Kawhi Leonard apparently isn’t too worried about whether he’ll eventually become a Raptor again.
At least that’s what he told one enterprising fan in Miami.
Leonard was spotted Tuesday night and asked whether he’s coming to Toronto.
“I hope so,” Leonard replied. “We gonna win.”
The video surfaced on X via an account with all of 102 followers. So, hey, good for him. Sometimes NBA reporting is complicated. Sometimes you just happen to run into Kawhi Leonard and ask the right question.
Leonard is in Miami for a Raptors players minicamp, as first reported by Jake Fischer and Marc Stein of The Stein Line. Because his trade from the Clippers has yet to become official, Leonard reportedly has been limited to individual workouts.
The Clippers and Raptors agreed to the blockbuster back in June, with Toronto sending Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, two first-round picks and additional draft compensation to Los Angeles.
The deal was delayed while the NBA investigated the Clippers for salary-cap circumvention involving Leonard. The league has since completed its investigation, fining Leonard $700,000.
Now it’s mostly a matter of getting the trade across the finish line. Leonard certainly sounds ready.
