Grizzlies become latest NBA team to move local broadcasts to DAZN

The Grizzlies are the latest NBA team to move a major portion of their local broadcast package to DAZN.

Memphis announced a multi-year agreement Thursday that will make the streaming platform the exclusive local home for 78 regular-season games and all four preseason games in 2026-27.

They’re hardly alone. The Pacers have also announced a multi-year DAZN agreement for most of their regular-season schedule. The Knicks and Nets have shifted local streaming from standalone team apps to DAZN, while the Timberwolves are also set to stream local games on the platform.

The Wizards, Hornets and Magic are tied into regional or hybrid streaming arrangements involving DAZN as well. So this is becoming a thing.

Also, the Cavaliers joined that group earlier this month, moving most of their local broadcasts to DAZN after the collapse of FanDuel Sports Network Ohio.

Interestingly, there’s another Cleveland-Memphis connection. Longtime Cavs game producer Brent Valenti recently left Cleveland to take the same position with the Grizzlies, meaning he’ll now help oversee another NBA team making the move to DAZN.

Memphis is following a similar model. The Grizzlies will charge $19.99 per month or $119.99 for a season pass, with higher-priced “Ultimate” tiers also available.

They’ll also make 15 regular-season games available for free on the DAZN app and through local over-the-air simulcasts. Along with that, they’re promising upgraded production, multiview options, alternate broadcasts and additional team programming, while keeping Pete Pranica, Brevin Knight and Rob Fischer in place.

For years, NBA teams largely depended on regional sports networks to handle local distribution. That model keeps changing. DAZN clearly wants a meaningful piece of whatever comes next.
