Kevin Knox is getting another NBA look.
The Magic plan to sign the 27-year-old forward to an Exhibit 10 contract and bring him to training camp, Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel reported. Arthur Hill of Hoops Rumors also noted the move.
Knox spent last season with the Windy City Bulls in the G League, averaging 22.7 points and 8.2 rebounds in 26 games. Those numbers earned him a camp invitation. They don’t guarantee him a spot on Orlando’s opening-night roster.
The Knicks selected Knox ninth overall in 2018, and he has since made stops with the Hawks, Pistons, Trail Blazers and Warriors. He’s continued to score in the G League while trying to find a lasting NBA role.
Because Knox has more than four years of NBA experience, he isn’t eligible for a two-way contract. If the Magic waive him, his Exhibit 10 deal could instead lead to a bonus if he spends at least 60 days with their G League affiliate in Osceola.
Orlando also signed Ricky Council IV, Au’Diese Toney, Ace Baldwin Jr. and Jarron Cumberland to Exhibit 10 deals, with plans to waive all four, according to Beede. The Magic open training camp Tuesday.
