Danny Green is getting a larger role with the Lakers. This time, it will be behind a microphone.
Spectrum SportsNet announced that Green will serve as the network’s primary analyst for Lakers road games during the 2026-27 season, working alongside play-by-play announcer Bill Macdonald.
Stu Lantz, who is entering his 41st season with the franchise, will continue calling home games. The 80-year-old missed time last season because of health issues and two medical procedures.
Green filled in for Lantz on several broadcasts during the 2025-26 season. Apparently, the audition went well.
The former Lakers guard will also remain part of Spectrum SportsNet’s studio rotation. The network left open the possibility of using other analysts on some road broadcasts, so it’s unclear exactly how many games Green will call.
Green played 14 NBA seasons and won championships with the Spurs, Raptors and Lakers. He moved quickly into broadcasting after retiring, joining ESPN as a studio analyst and later receiving a contract extension from the network.
Spectrum also announced that former Lakers guard Sasha Vujacic will join its studio rotation. Roqui Theus will split sideline reporting duties with Mike Trudell.
Lantz has been part of Lakers broadcasts since 1987. Green now gets an extended opportunity to show whether he might eventually become the long-term successor to one of the franchise’s most familiar voices.
