Suns

The Suns filled a need by acquiring Miles Bridges. Now comes figuring out how much more he can give them.

Bridges’ fit is among the questions raised by Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic ahead of the season. The Suns have added an athletic scorer at power forward, but lost some reliable outside shooting with the departures of Grayson Allen and Royce O’Neale.

Bridges could help by creating opportunities for others, too. He has averaged 2.8 assists over seven seasons, with most of his value coming from finishing plays. Alongside Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks and the Suns’ centers, a little more passing would certainly help.

Basically, the Suns know Bridges can score. How he complements everyone else will help determine whether this is a lasting arrangement.

There’s some incentive on his end. Bridges is entering the final season of his contract, giving him a chance to make a case for sticking around.

Pistons

Gary Harris’ stay with the Pistons ended before he played a game.

The team waived the veteran shooting guard, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. Harris arrived in July’s six-team trade after exercising his $3.8 million player option.

Harris, 32, averaged a career-low 2.7 points in 48 games with the Bucks last season. But he did shoot 41.2 percent from three. The production has declined, though the perimeter shooting could still give another team a reason to take a look.

The Pistons had been expected to choose between Harris and fellow newcomer Taurean Prince for a roster spot. This appears to settle that question.

The bigger unresolved matter, of course, remains Jalen Duren’s restricted free agency. He is expected to occupy another spot once the sides reach a resolution.

Jazz

The Jazz have officially signed guard Terrell Brown Jr., completing an agreement first reported in August.

Brown, 28, helped the Greensboro Swarm win the G League championship last season, averaging 11.9 points, 6.4 assists and 4.1 rebounds in 50 games.

The assists are worth a look. Brown averaged just 1.6 turnovers, giving him four assists for every turnover. His shooting was less impressive, at 40.4 percent overall and 32.5 percent from three.

Terms weren’t announced, but the deal is expected to include Exhibit 10 language, potentially setting up a move to the Salt Lake City Stars if he’s waived.

Brown has spent four seasons in the G League. This gives him another opportunity to show an NBA team what he can offer.
