LeBron James brings full LeBron experience to Sixers, including chopper

The 76ers wanted LeBron James. Apparently that includes the helicopter.

Philadelphia opened training camp Tuesday with more than 50 credentialed media members packed into the team’s facility, enough that the Sixers had to move their usual news conference setup to accommodate everybody, according to the Associated Press.

Then came practice. VJ Edgecombe admitted he still had a moment when he looked across the locker room and realized LeBron James was sitting there.

“It’s like, damn, that’s still Bron,” Edgecombe said. He’ll get used to it. Maybe.

The Sixers are trying to treat James like another teammate, which is probably the correct approach. But there’s nothing particularly normal about adding one of the most famous athletes on the planet to a team that already features Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown and Tyrese Maxey.

Then, while Anfernee Simons was talking to reporters after practice, a helicopter could be heard taking off outside. As in, LeBron’s helicopter.

James is living in New York and used it to head home after practice, as reported by The Philadelphia Inquirer.
