Stephen Curry is making a change as he prepares for another season with the Warriors.
According to comments attributed to his wife, Ayesha Curry, the Golden State star is cutting alcohol out of his routine during the NBA season.
It’s a small detail, but an interesting one for a player who has already accomplished just about everything there is to accomplish in basketball.
Curry remains the centerpiece of the Warriors’ offense, and managing his body has become an increasingly important part of extending his career.
The four-time champion has never relied solely on his shooting. Conditioning, movement and the ability to run defenders through screens have been central to his success for years.
That doesn’t get easier with age. Of course, avoiding alcohol isn’t going to guarantee another championship or another All-NBA season. Curry still has to navigate the demands of an 82-game schedule and whatever comes afterward.
But it’s another example of the attention he continues to pay to his preparation.
The Warriors aren’t asking Curry to reinvent himself. They just need him to keep being Stephen Curry.
