Pelicans officially list Joe Dumars’ son as executive advisor

The Pelicans have made Jordan Dumars’ role a little more official.

Jordan Dumars, the son of executive vice president of basketball operations Joe Dumars, is now listed by the team as an “executive advisor,” as noted by Shamit Dua of In The NO.

That’s a change from last season, when the younger Dumars was not formally included in the team’s staff directory and was described as a “basketball operations consultant.”

Dua reported last November that Jordan Dumars had become part of the Pelicans’ management inner circle despite the fact that his hiring had never been formally announced.

Now there’s at least a title attached to it.

The Pelicans’ basketball operations hierarchy currently lists Joe Dumars at the top, followed by senior vice president Troy Weaver and Jordan Dumars as executive advisor.

Call it a promotion, a clarification or simply a more public acknowledgment of the role.

Either way, the family connection is no longer tucked away in the fine print.
