The Kings have signed wings Aaron Nkrumah and Damari Monsanto to Exhibit 10 contracts, filling their preseason roster at 21 players, according to Keith Smith of Spotrac.
Both appear headed for the Stockton Kings, Sacramento’s G League affiliate. But each brings something worth a look before then.
Nkrumah, 24, went undrafted out of Tennessee State after earning Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year honors last season. The 6-foot-6 wing led the conference in scoring and steals, averaging 17.7 points and 2.8 steals, along with 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 33 games.
He had reportedly reached an Exhibit 10 agreement with Denver after the draft, but that never resulted in a signing. He lands in Sacramento instead.
Monsanto’s calling card is his outside shot. He shot 42.8 percent from beyond the arc across 45 G League appearances last season, averaging 9.6 points in 16.2 minutes per game. Most of those appearances came with the Capital City Go-Go.
That shooting followed him from college, where he made 39.5 percent of his 3-point attempts during stops at East Tennessee State, Wake Forest and UTSA.
Stockton acquired Monsanto’s G League returning rights last month, so his destination was already taking shape. The Exhibit 10 deals allow both players to earn bonuses of up to $91,000 if they are waived and spend at least 60 days with Stockton.
