X-rays taken on point guard Russell Westbrook‘s injured thumb after the Lakers’ home win over the Spurs on Sunday returned negative, the team said, via Dave McMenamin of ESPN.
Westbrook had his hand wrapped after the game and the Lakers are expected to give the injury further evaluation on Monday. Westbrook finished the victory with 10 points and 10 assists — marking his fourth straight game with at least 10 assists.
The Lakers (5-10) have won three straight, and seem to be finding their footing a little despite being without injured star LeBron James (adductor) for four of those games.
Point guard Dennis Schroder and center Thomas Bryant each just recently returned from thumb injuries of their own.
LA next visits the Suns on Tuesday before playing two more road games on Friday and Saturday, both vs. the Spurs.
Westbrook, 34, is averaging 15.4 points, 7.7 assists and 5.4 rebounds in 14 games. He has come off the bench in all but three of them.
