Trey Jemison’s stay with the Raptors ended before he had much opportunity to make an impression.
Toronto waived the two-way center Wednesday, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. Jemison signed in early August but made just one preseason appearance and suffered a hand injury during training camp, per Blake Murphy of Sportsnet.
The move leaves the Raptors with two available two-way spots. Guard Malachi Smith holds the other.
Jemison, a 6-foot-10 center who went undrafted out of UAB in 2023, has spent three professional seasons moving between the NBA and G League. His stops have included Washington, Memphis, New Orleans, Los Angeles and New York.
He has appeared in 76 NBA regular-season games, including 13 for the championship-winning Knicks last season. Those opportunities were brief, totaling just 82 minutes.
His larger role came with the Westchester Knicks, where he averaged 8.3 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 blocks in 31 G League appearances.
That experience could interest a team looking for frontcourt depth, though Jemison will first have to clear waivers to become a free agent.
For Toronto, the immediate result is more flexibility to fill out its two-way group. For Jemison, it’s another search for a place where he can stick.
