Hornets waive two guards

The Hornets have waived Jarkel Joiner and Latrell Wrightsell, the team announced Saturday, bringing their roster within the regular-season limit.

Charlotte now has 15 players on guaranteed standard contracts and three on two-way deals. No further cuts are required before Monday’s deadline.

Joiner and Wrightsell are expected to continue with the Greensboro Swarm. Both signed Exhibit 10 contracts with the Hornets.

Joiner, a 6-foot-1 point guard, averaged 10.9 points, 3.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds in 49 games for Raptors 905 last season. He shot 35.6 percent from beyond the arc.

The former NC State guard has spent his first three professional seasons in the G League after going undrafted in 2023. Greensboro acquired his returning rights last month, setting up his likely move to the Swarm.

Joiner appeared in four preseason games for the Hornets. Wrightsell didn’t play after his contract was finalized earlier this week.

The 6-foot-3 Alabama product averaged 13.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in his final college season, shooting 36 percent on 7.8 three-point attempts per game.

Wrightsell agreed to terms with Charlotte in June after going undrafted. His first professional opportunity now appears likely to come in Greensboro.
