The Kings haven’t won a game. Darius Acuff Jr. is at least giving their fans a reason to keep watching.
The No. 7 overall pick delivered 34 points, 14 assists and six rebounds in Thursday’s loss to the Pelicans. Sacramento fell to 0-5, but its rookie point guard continues to look comfortable with a considerable assignment.
Acuff joined Michael Jordan, Trae Young and Steve Francis as the only rookies with at least 34 points, 14 assists, six rebounds and a steal in a game, per Zach Bachar of Bleacher Report.
That’s some company. No need to start making career comparisons, but the kid is producing.
Acuff leads all rookies with averages of 24.0 points and 6.6 assists. His three-point shooting needs work at 22.2%, though that hasn’t prevented him from creating offense.

Sacramento actually outscored New Orleans by three during Acuff’s 41 minutes, despite losing by 12 overall.
Basically, the Kings have plenty to fix around him. But five games into Acuff’s career, finding somebody who can score and get teammates involved doesn’t appear to be one of those problems.
