Cavs-Sixers halftime dribbles

CLEVELAND — Random dribbles from halftime of the Cavaliers’ home game against the 76ers on Friday. Cavs lead, 62-54.

1. The Cavs came out of the gate quickly, with high energy, good ball movement and strong shot-making. But other than maybe Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley, they’re just not getting enough consistency.

2. Mitchell has been in full attack mode. The Cavs will need that to continue. Mobley has won the battle vs. Joel Embiid. The Cavs will need more of that, too. But they’re gonna need another guy to enter the chat.

3. No one has been bad — though aside from Meleek Thomas, the bench isn’t offering a whole lot. Luckily for the Cavs, the Sixers’ bench isn’t very good.

4. Holy cow does LeBron James look old. He has his moments (though barely any tonight), and was stripped once by Thomas, and threw two passes right intio the arms of Sam Merrill. Thomas, by the way, is younger than Bronny and Bryce James.

5. The Cavs are doing plenty right on NBA Cup night. But they need more from the likes of Peyton Watson, Merrill, James Harden … someone.

6. Mobley had a great half. He’s playing the five in place of the injured Jarrett Allen and already has 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting. If he does this in the second half, and Mitchell (10 points) keeps attacking, the Cavs should win.

7. LeBron is 1-of-4 shooting for two points and has been a non-factor. The Cavs have also done a nice job on Tyrese Maxey (seven points). They just have to slow down VJ Edgecombe (17 points, 7-of-9 from the field).
