Star forward LeBron James indicated he is not taking issue with the way the Lakers are trying to build their roster into a contender — or at least, a serious playoff contender.
James tweeted out his thoughts after speaking to Sam Amick of The Athletic, responding to a tweet from Amick that linked to the article.
“Hey Sam actually my patience isn’t waning,” James wrote. “You make it sound like I’m frustrated when I’m really not. I told you over and over, my job is focused on the guys in the locker room, my job isn’t the roster. That’s the reality of that conversation. And I said what I said with the Upmost respect and calmness cause that’s the mood I’m in! Your welcome! 5 game winning streak.”
James is right about the Lakers’ winning streak — as they have yet to lose since his 38th birthday on Dec. 31. All of the wins have come without center/forward Anthony Davis. One even came without James.
The story to which James is referring featured his comments on the Lakers’ attempts to improve the roster. Those comments were made exclusively to Amick after LA’s win over the Kings on Saturday.
“If you guys know, then you guys know,” James said after Amick asked if it makes sense for the Lakers to stay the course until the offseason. “You guys know. I don’t need to talk about it. You guys know.
“…Listen, you guys know. It’s not rocket science,” James said, via Amick. “Y’all know what the f–k should be happening. I don’t need to talk.”
