Mavericks center Christian Wood sustained a fracture of his left thumb and will be re-evaluated next week, the team announced in a press release.
Wood suffered the injury in Wednesday’s loss to the Hawks. Per Grant Afseth of Dallas Basketball, the Mavs could offer an update on Wood as early as Monday.
Wood, 27, is 6-foot-10 and is having a stellar season in his first year with Dallas, averaging 18.4 points and 8.4 rebounds in 42 games, shooting about 54 percent from the field. He will be a free agent at the end of the season.
“He gives us a dynamic that we haven’t had in a long time,” Mavs owner Mark Cuban said, via Mark Medina of NBA.com. “He’s somebody who can post up, make a 3, attack, close out, block a shot, and rebound. He’s really helped us.”
