Bucks star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo will undergo further testing on the right wrist sprain he suffered during a win over the Bulls last week, per Tim Bontemps of ESPN.
Antetokounmpo will undergo the tests on Monday in New York, as relayed by Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. He did appear in the NBA All-Star Game, opening the scoring with a dunk, with tape on his injured wrist.
Swelling on his wrist had not subsided, requiring further evaluation, Owczarski reported.
“That was yesterday, man. That’s old news,” he said at All-Star Weekend in Salt Lake City, via Owscarski. “It’s a brand new day, man. A good day to be alive.”
Antetokounmpo, 28, is averaging a career-high 31.8 points to go with 12.2 rebounds and 5.4 assists, shooting 54 percent from the field in 47 games.
“He’s a guy that is attacking the basket all the time, and he’s fearless and he takes a lot of falls,” coach Mike Budenholzer said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “So you kind of learn to just expect him to always bounce back up, and that’s what we’re hoping for from this one.”
The Bucks (41-17) lead the Central Division and are a half-game behind the Celtics for best record in the Eastern Conference.
