Kevin Durant Set to Make Suns Debut on Wednesday

The Kevin Durant era in Phoenix is about to tip-off.Kevin Durant

Per multiple reports, the star forward will make his Suns debut in Wednesday’s road game against the Hornets.

“How I can inject myself,” Durant said he has been thinking as he’s watched the Suns from the bench, per Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic.

Durant, 34, was acquired by the Suns from the Nets at the trade deadline. He has been out with a knee injury since Jan. 9, a month to the day before being traded.

He will now team with the likes of point guard Chris Paul, shooting guard Devin Booker and center Deandre Ayton, creating expectations that are every bit as lofty as they were when Durant was in Brooklyn.

That didn’t work out, but the Suns are banking on something different.

For the season, Durant is averaging 29.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists, shooting 56 percent from the field and 93 percent on free throws.

Phoenix (33-29) currently sits in fourth place in the Western Conference with 19 games remaining. The Suns are just a half-game ahead of the Clippers, and one game ahead of the Mavericks. They trail the Pacific Division-leading Kings by three games.
