Free agent point guard Emmanuel Mudiay is expected to sign with Lithuanian club Zalgiris, according to Donatas Urbonas of BasketNews.
Mudiay, 25, is 6-foot-3 and was selected by the Nuggets with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.
He went unsigned this past season and is currently for the Trail Blazers’ summer league team in Las Vegas. Per Urbonas, Mudiay will only join Zalgiris if no NBA offer comes his way.
Along with the Nuggets, Mudiay has played for the Knicks and Jazz. His best season came in 2018-19, when he averaged a career-high 14.8 points and 3.3 assists in New York.
He appeared in 54 games with Utah in 2019-20, averaging 7.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists, shooting a career-best 46 percent from the field.
Mudiay had overseas offers last season, as well as offers from the G League, but rebuffed them in hopes of signing with an NBA team, Urbonas noted.
Former NBA power forward Tyler Cavanaugh and ex-NBA center Joffrey Lauvergne are among those currently on the Zalgiris roster.
