The Nuggets have signed guard Markus Howard to a two-way contract, president of basketball operations Tim Connelly said in a team release.
Howard is 5-foot-11 and entering his second pro season, both with Denver.
He appeared in 37 games last season, averaging 2.8 points in 5.5 minutes per game. He also appeared in nine games for the Nuggets in the playoffs, posting 4.7 points on 42.3 percent shooting on 3-pointers.
A product of Marquette, Howard was among the nation’s leading scorers in his final college season.
He is sure to spend plenty of time with the Grand Rapids Gold, the Nuggets’ G League affiliate. He can play up to 50 games in the NBA under a two-way deal.
Howard is very open about his Christian faith, explaining it is behind the reason he wore No. 00.
“First and foremost, I’m a Christian before anything else. I’m a son [of God], so I want to be sure that my number meant something and it represented something,” he said. “It truly represents that without my relationship with Christ, I feel like I am not the person that I’m meant to be.”
