The Rockets are among the teams expected to have interest in Nets forward Cam Johnson this offseason, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
Johnson will be a restricted free agent, meaning the Nets would be able to match an offer from another team.
One of the key pieces in the Kevin Durant trade with the Suns, you can be sure the Nets will do what they can to keep Johnson — who averaged career-highs of 16.6 points and 4.8 rebounds in 25 games with Brooklyn. He then compiled averages of 18.5 points and 5.8 boards in four playoff games vs. the 76ers.
Johnson, 25, is 6-foot-8 and is a career 39 percent shooter on 3-pointers.
“I know I came into the league a lot older than other people, but I think I still have a long way to go in terms of what I can be,” Johnson said, via Scotto.
Meanwhile, the Rockets are trying to add talented youth quickly via their lottery pick, trades and free agency in an effort to make a run at the postseason in 2023-24. Houston is also in the midst of a coaching search.
