Star forward Kevin Durant suggested the Suns don’t need to panic, but like everyone, are likely to consider some roster moves this offseason.
“We’ll see,” Durant said when asked about the potential of major changes, via Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic. “Obviously you always want to make tweaks regardless.”
Here’s more out of Phoenix:
- Durant went on to say being eliminated is a tough pill to swallow. “It sucked. It was a bad feeling. It was embarrassing,” he said of the Game 6 loss to the Nuggets, via ESPN’s Tim MacMahon. “They came out and hit us in the mouth and we couldn’t recover.”
- Durant did offer high praise for center Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets. “Jokic is an all-time great. He’ll go down as one of the all-time great centers to ever touch a basketball,” Durant said, via Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. “He went out there and did what he was supposed to do.”
- Point guard Cameron Payne on the loss: “It hurt. It hurt big time.”
- Would the Suns consider moving on from coach Monty Williams? It seems unlikely, but they may want to consider it given the recent playoff exits, per Kevin O’Connor of the Ringer.
- O’Connor wrote: “Williams just signed an extension last summer. But considering how few assets the Suns have, getting a new head coach and bringing in someone who overhauls the system might be the way to change the team the most.”
- We have much more on what might await the Suns in our offseason primer right here, and all the time on our Suns page.
