Bucks to Interview Mark Jackson for Coaching Vacancy

The Bucks intend to interview former Warriors coach and current ESPN analyst Mark Jackson for their coaching vacancy, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Jackson is the latest in a long list of reported candidates that also includes the likes of former Thunder and Wizards coach Scott Brooks, Bucks assistant Charles Lee, former Hornets coach James Borrego, Warriors assistant and former Nets coach Kenny Atkinson, and former NBA shooting guard J.J. Redick, among others. Former Raptors coach Nick Nurse and Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin have also been linked to the job.

Jackson, 58, coached the Warriors from 2011-14, compiling a 121-109 record. That was his lone coaching experience. He has been an ESPN in-game analyst on the No. 1 broadcast team since. 

Jackson has interviewed and been in the running for multiple vacancies over the years, including the Kings last offseason. He has instead returned to the broadcast booth each time.

GM Jon Horst recently said the Bucks are in no rush to make a hire.

“It’s way more important to make the right decision than it is to make a decision quick,” Horst said via Jim Owsczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “And so, time matters, but getting this right is the only thing that matters. So, we will take whatever time it needs to do that.”

Milwaukee dismissed former coach Mike Budenholzer following a first-round playoff exit.
