Ex-Warriors GM Bob Myers in Talks With ESPN

Former Warriors head of basketball operations Bob Myers is in early talks with ESPN about joining the network’s NBA coverage, per Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports.

Myers stepped down earlier this week after 12 seasons and four championships. It’s long been reported he intended to pursue interests other than running a team, such as perhaps working in the media.

Myers was a player agent before joining the Warriors, with a client list that included Kendrick Perkins, Tyreke Evans and Brandon Roy. While some suggest he is taking a year away before returning to a GM role with another team, league sources have told Hoops Wire they wouldn’t be surprised if Myers decides to start a new career path.

As for ESPN, Myers has plenty of connections there. That includes Perkins, a studio analyst.

“Early this year, he launched a new podcast called Lead by Example with ESPN and Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions,” McCarthy wrote. “He attracted heavyweight guests like NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, Disney chief executive officer Bob Iger and California Governor Gavin Newsom.”
