The Bulls and center Nikola Vucevic have reached agreement on a three-year, $60 million contract extension, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Chicago confirmed the deal in a press release, though not the terms.
Vucevic, 32, was acquired by the Bulls in a trade with the Magic in February 2021. He appeared in all 82 games last season, averaging 17.6 points, 11.1 rebounds and shooting 52 percent from the field. By signing Vucevic to an extension, the Bulls will be keeping him off the free agent market.
While Vucevic is all but officially back, the Bulls are said to still be determining what to do about guard Zach LaVine and small forward DeMar DeRozan. As we relayed here, Chicago reportedly has been engaged in some LaVine trade talks — though sources have told Hoops Wire they believe he will in fact return to the Bulls.
Vucevic was the No. 16 overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft by the 76ers. He spent one season with Philadelphia before nine seasons in Orlando, where he became a two-time All-Star.
