Pelicans point guard Tomas Satoransky suggested that the NBA’s media is already trying to find a new team for forward Zion Williamson, but added the rumors are exactly that — rumors.
“I have a feeling some American media that cover the NBA want to break up teams and create fake stories,” Satoransky told Czech Daily, via Alexandros Tsakos of TalkBasket. “So that something’s happening — ‘This one’s dissatisfied. This one wants to leave.’ Most of the time, the truth is elsewhere or in the middle.”
Satoransky arrived in New Orleans as part of the Lonzo Ball sign-and-trade with Chicago. He will now team with Williamson, Brandon Ingram, Devonte’ Graham, Jonas Valanciunas and others under new coach Willie Green, giving the Pelicans an almost entirely new look.
But that hasn’t stopped the speculation that Williamson wants to move on. Like most bigger names, the biggest storylines often revolve around where else he may want to be.
But Satoransky says not to buy into any of it.
“It’s definitely not true that Zion in his third season is thinking about not having good players around him,” Satoransky said. “I’m convinced of it.”
The Pelicans tip off training camp at the end of the month.
