The Heat are signing free agent small forward Caleb Martin to a two-way contract, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.
Martin, 25, is 6-foot-5 and was waived by the Hornets in early August. He averaged 5.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 53 games last season, his second in the NBA. Twin brother Cody Martin has also been with the Hornets for two seasons.
Caleb Martin was likely a victim of a numbers game, as the Hornets brought in small forward Kelly Oubre Jr.
Martin went undrafted out of Nevada in 2019 and became an unrestricted free agent after clearing waivers.
“Martin spent his first two seasons playing alongside his brother Cody in Charlotte; now they will compete in the same division,” Charania wrote.
