The Mavericks are filling out their training camp roster, agreeing to sign guard/forward Joe Wieskamp and forward Greg Brown to camp contracts, per Shams Chrania of The Athletic.
Both players have NBA experience, though it’s not been much to this point.
Wieskamp, 23, appeared in nine games with the Raptors last season after playing 29 with the Spurs the year before that as a rookie. He carries career averages of 9.9 points and 2.5 rebounds, shooting 33 percent from the field.
He was waived by the Raptors on July 17 after signing a pair of 10-day contracts last season, followed by a standard deal in February. The Spurs originally selected him with the No. 41 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
Brown, 21, was taken two picks later by the Pelicans that same year. He was traded to the Trail Blazers the next day, signing a multiyear deal in August 2021. He has appeared in 16 games with Portland since then.
Both are considered long shots to make Dallas’ standard roster, though they could be set up for G League deals. The Mavs currently have 14 players on guaranteed contracts along with two on two-way deals. So they do have some spots available.
