Charge Land Player Rights to Ex-CSU Wing Rob Edwards in Trade

AKRON, Ohio — The Cleveland Charge could have a former Cleveland shooting guard on the roster, and we’re not just talking about the Cavaliers.

Instead, the Charge have acquired the returning player rights to Rob Edwards from the Wisconsin Herd in a three-team G League trade that also involved the Grand Rapids Gold.

Along with Edwards, the Charge landed the returning player rights to forward/center Grant Golden from Grand Rapids, which received the player rights to forward Jamroko Pickett from Cleveland.

Edwards, 26, is 6-foot-5 and played his first two years of college ball at Cleveland State, where the Charge currently play home games. He was named to the Horizon League All-Freshmen team in his first season, then second-team All-Horizon League in 2017 as a sophomore, before transferring to Arizona State.

He has spent each of the past three years in the G League, averaging 14.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in 47 games with the Herd last season.

Meanwhile, Golden is 6-10 and coming off a stint with Vanoli Cremona of the LBA after playing in all 50 games with the Gold last season, compiling averages of 14.6 points and and 9.4 rebounds, shooting a sizzling 55 percent from the field.

Pickett played in 41 games for the Charge and the Georgetown product was very good — averaging 17.7 points and 8.0 boards.
