The Cavaliers have waived center/forward Mfiondu Kabengele and guard Brodric Thomas, cutting the roster to 18.
Kabengele, 24, is 6-foot-9 and appeared in 16 games last season after signing a pair of 10-day contracts in April, followed by a standard deal in May. He averaged 4.3 points and 2.9 rebounds in Cleveland after appearing in 23 games with the Clippers.
Thomas, 24, is 6-5 and signed a two-way deal with the Cavs in September. He at first signed a two-way deal with the Cavs in February, appearing in 32 games for the Cavs and Rockets last season, averaging 3.9 points.
Along with that, he appeared in six games with the Canton Charge, the Cavs’ G League affiliate that is now located in Cleveland. His release opens a two-way slot.
Both players very well could be headed to the Charge for the season, assuming they clear waivers in the NBA.
