The Pelicans have waived center James Banks, shooting guard Malcolm Hill and power forward Wenyen Gabriel, the team announced in a press release.
Banks, 23, is 6-10 and went undrafted out of Georgia Tech in 2020. He spent last season playing professionally in Israel and then played for the Cavaliers’ summer team in July.
Hill, 25, is 6-foot-6 and has played professionally Philippines, Germany, Russia and Israel over the last five seasons. He was a member of the Pelicans’ summer team in August.
Gabriel, 24, is 6-9 and appeared in 21 games with the Pelicans last season. He has also spent time with the Kings and Trail Blazers after going undrafted out of Kentucky in 2108.
All three players are likely headed for the Birmingham Squadron, the Pelicans’ new affiliate in the G League.
