The 76ers have waived rookie shooting guard Ricky Council IV and guard David Duke Jr., the team announced in a press release.
Council, 22, is 6-foot-6 and went undrafted out of Arkansas last summer — despite being projected by some outlets to go early in the second round. He immediately signed a two-way contract with the Sixers after the draft.
He then appeared in five games with Philadelphia at Summer League, averaging 9.4 points and 4.2 rebounds.
Duke, 24, is 6-5 and has appeared in 45 games with the Nets over the previous two seasons, including 23 last year. He is likely headed to the Delaware Blue Coats, the Sixers’ affiliate in the G League.
Should Duke remain with the Blue Coats for at least 60 days, he’ll be eligible for a bonus of up to $75,000.
The Sixers now have an open two-way spot, and 19 players on the roster overall.
