Three games into the season, and the Bulls are again trying to find something that works.
And it’s fair to wonder if DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine are the star players who will make it happen.
“It’s our third year here together. We know how this business is,” LaVine said, via K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago. “We all love each other. DeMar is one of my best friends. We talk all the time.
“But we have to figure out how to make this thing work.”
A lot of people have doubts about this batch of Bulls. They seem like they will forever be stuck being just … well, sort of there.
Both DeRozan and LaVine have been the subject of trade rumors for about a year. That said, it’s unlikely that Chicago would receive equal value for either player. So instead, the Bulls (1-2) have tried to build around them.
It’s gone only OK. So theoretically, DeRozan and LaVine can raise their games and play well consistently together.
“I think we’re going to get it,” DeRozan said, via Johnson. “It’s frustrating because so much time went by that you think it should be second nature. But I think we at times maybe overcompensate for one another because we want it to click so bad.”
