It’s been rumored for quite some time and who knows? Maybe the Bulls will indeed trade Zach LaVine.
Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, both sides appear to be “increasingly” open to the idea.
Part of the reason, of course, is that the Bulls have been receiving calls on LaVine. And that makes sense. Chicago is again off to another very average start and it doesn’t seem things will magically get better.
So perhaps it’s time to make a move — and other than DeMar DeRozan (also in trade rumors), LaVine would bring the most in return. In theory, anyway.
Meanwhile, DeRozan is in the final year of his contract and has been the subject of trade chatter for at least a year. As Charania wrote, DeRozan’s future in Chicago is “uncertain.” That said, it may not be as uncertain as that of LaVine.
“I’ve been traded before,” LaVine recently told Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune. “Trades are just part of the business and guys get shuffled around every year. I’ve been in trade talks since I’ve been here for some reason.
“I feel like I’ve held up my end of the bargain in my commitment to the Bulls, but there’s not a lot you can do with rumors and people putting your name in trade talks.”
