Former NBA forward Hedo Turkoglu has been re-elected as president of the Turkish Basketball Federation, as relayed by Alessandro Maggi of Sportando.
Turkoglu, 42, played for six NBA teams from 2000-15 as a 6-foot-10 sharpshooting small forward. That included a five-year run with the Magic, helping them reach the NBA Finals in 2009 alongside Dwight Howard.
Turkoglu led the Magic in that series at 18.0 points, though they lost to Kobe Bryant and the Lakers in five games. Turkoglu opted out of his contract following the season, signing with the Raptors.
He also spent time with the Kings, Spurs and Suns, returning to the Magic in 2010 before ending his career with the Clippers in 2014-15.
“Three candidates competed for the position of the Turkish Basketball Federation president and the outcome was decided on November 4th,” EuroHoops wrote. “The results went in favor of Hidayet Turkoglu once again and he was re-elected as the chairman.
“The General Assembly was held in Ankara while 180 participated in the voting. Hidayet Turkoglu received a total of 81 votes at the end of the 4th ballot box, mathematically guaranteeing the win and getting re-elected as the TBF president.”
